Freedom of the City of London

Welcome to the Irish Heart of London

In what is a momentous occasion for London Irish Centre, our patron and team members have received the ‘Freedom of the City’ award from London’s first Irish National Lord Mayor.

We are incredibly proud of Gary Dunne, Creative Director, Maeve Heath, LIC volunteer since 1977, and valued patron Ed Sheeran, for their dedication to the London Irish community.

To be involved with the Centre means to belong in a welcoming community of people championing the fusion of London and Irish identity. Our culture has stood strong for almost 70 years, and with big plans for the future, we encourage you to get involved in any way that matters to you.

A quote from our CEO, Séamus MacCormaic:

“It instils enormous pride in us to see Maeve Heath, Gary Dunne and Ed Sheeran awarded the prestigious Freedom of the City of London. We thank the Lord Mayor for recognising the contribution of LIC to London, through the honours awarded today. Please come and join us at LIC and be part of that continuing Irish story in London.”
