The Irish Creative Series is our new digital strand to the programme which showcases one emerging Irish talent each month.
In May, we want to tell you about Inni-K, named by RTÉ.ie as “one of ten fierce women defining Irish culture”.
Who’s Inni-K?
Eithne Ní Chatháin is a Kildare-born indie-folk singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter based in Dublin.
Influenced by Bjork, Nina Simone and Joni Mitchell she creates her own fresh style with the modern folk and traditional Irish music background.
Singing and playing piano, fiddle and ukulele Eithne she creates a unique and unforgettable atmosphere.
“With a voice that’s simultaneously soft and piercing, Inni-K creates music that’s beautifully haunting, and entirely unique.”
Her music combines ethereal vocals with deft musicianship, evocative lyrics (bilingual at times), and a unique approach to song-writing. All of these justify her well-established presence on the Irish musical scene.
Inni-K’s new album ‘The Hare & the Line’ has been recently released, gaining recognition from critics and listeners. It is only her second album after the debut one called ‘The King Has Two Horse’s Ears’, however, it already reflects and highlights her growth as a musician.
‘The Hare & the Line’ presents a more raw, more affecting collection of songs than Inni-K’s previous work; a collection varied in tone, and showing the maturity of these past years spent engaged in music.
